Description: Wherever you are in your writing career, a website is your most effective marketing tool, and you control it 100%. There are many options to choose from, but whether you hire a designer or use a free platform, take the time to get it right. Why? Because your website is your virtual living room. If you're querying, it announces to agents and editors that you’re a professional who understands marketing. If you have a book deal, it builds loyalty, woos buyers, creates fans, and updates the media. Your website is your exclusive marketing tool, with access to content dedicated to you as an author, as well as the means of reaching and expanding your brand no matter where you are in the publishing process. In this workshop, we’ll talk about the why, when, and how of launching a website, with tips on how to maximize information, technology, and graphics to create a unique image of success. We’ll also talk about rebranding, which author Barbara Claypole White did last summer with a new website created and built for her by another WFWA member, Laura Spinella. Barbara and Laura will tell you about the process and answer your questions. In addition to her own author brand, Laura brings to WFWA nearly a decade of experience with the largest author-dedicated web building company, AuthorBytes. Together, Barbara and Laura will pull back the curtain on web-design basics and technology, as well as chat about the often misunderstood world of best-web practices.

For webinar participants, a discounted AuthorBytes price will be offered, featuring websites starting at $1,750 for a single book express site, less hosting. Consultations are free.

Bios:

Bestselling author Barbara Claypole White was born in rural England, but writes and gardens in the forests of North Carolina. Her passion for creating troubled characters inspires emotionally-charged book club fiction with complicated relationships, invisible disabilities, crazy critters … and a big ol' dollop of hope. Her novels include: The Unfinished Garden, which won the Golden Quill for Best First Book; The In-Between Hour, a SIBA Okra Pick; The Perfect Son, a Goodreads Choice Awards Semifinalist; Echoes of Family, a WFWA Star Award Finalist; and The Promise Between Us, a 2018 Nautilus Award Winner and a 2019 American Fiction Awards Finalist. She is currently working hard on novel six, The Gin Club.

Laura Spinella is the author of eight published novels, including the #1 bestselling Ghost Gifts. Her cross-genre novels receive consistent industry praise and recognition. She is currently genre-hopping again, working on a psychological thriller. In addition to her work as an author, Laura is a project manager and creative liaison for AuthorBytes—the largest web developer of author websites. Her position offers her an uncommon perspective, having worked with hundreds of authors, including NYT bestsellers, indie authors, and the ever-emerging hybrid author.
