REGISTRATION DATES: March 18  - April 17, 2025
WORKSHOP DATES: April 22 - 28, 2025
REGISTRATION FEE: Free to all WFWA Members
INSTRUCTOR: Peer-to-Peer Workshop

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:
You're working on your first (or next) novel, and you need a compelling synopsis. Other writers seem to have theirs polished—wouldn’t it be great to see how they do it? Even better, what if you could get valuable feedback on your own synopsis?

That’s the idea behind the SIZZLING SYNOPSIS WORKSHOP, a free, week-long event for members. You’ll join a group of up to 6 WFWA writing peers, bravely sharing your 800-word synopsis for constructive feedback while offering the same in return.

A well-crafted SIZZLING SYNOPSIS is essential for selling your book. Agents, editors, interviewers, and future readers all need to be drawn in—and a strong synopsis can make all the difference.

The goal? To create a clear, engaging summary that not only captures your novel’s essence but also entices others to dive into your story.

A "Welcome Email" will be sent to you on or prior to April 18, 2025. This email will contain the link you will need to access the workshop as well as a guide to aid you in maneuvering within the workshop itself. Before the 22nd, you are welcome to explore the Sizzling Synopsis workshop hub and its included resources.

Interested in getting a live overview and introduction to the synopsis? Explore our introductory workshop with Jessica Strawser, Best Selling Author, as she presents Mastering the Art of the Synopsis the day before the workshop starts! This is a great opportunity to hear from an expert and enter the workshop even more prepared. Learn more HERE ($20 registration fee).

Getting ready!

Ahead of the workshop, you will need to prepare your 800-word synopsis (give or take a few words) for submission in advance of April 22nd. All submissions will be due to the workshop team by April 18, 2025 for the workshop team via a form shared after you register.

Over the course of the week, as you receive feedback, you will be able to revise your document live and request your group members to take another look.

The idea for this workshop is that your synopsis should be interesting enough to entice agents, editors, readers, and reviewers to want to read your book.

In advance of this workshop, feel free to explore the Synopsis Toolbox in our Learning Library that we have created for all WFWA members to have access to on the WFWA Online Community.
