Introducing Angela Ackerman

Angela Ackerman

Angela Ackerman is a story coach, international speaker, and co-author of the bestselling book, The Emotion Thesaurus: A Writer’s Guide to Character Expression, and its many sequels. Available in nine languages, her guides are sourced by universities, recommended by agents and editors, and used by novelists, screenwriters, and psychologists worldwide. To date, this series has sold over 1.2 million copies.

Angela is also the co-founder of the popular site Writers Helping Writers®, as well as One Stop for Writers®, a portal to game-changing tools and resources that enable writers to craft powerful fiction.

This year, get ready to take your understanding of character behavior and mindset to a new level as Angela dives into human psychology and how to leverage it within your story. You'll explore emotional wounds and how they reshape your character in fundamental ways and create a perfect storm of dysfunction which must be unraveled in character arc for them to succeed.

Next, it's on to subtext and hidden emotion where you'll fill your mental toolbox with ways to realistically show your character's feelings, especially the ones they are trying to hide from everyone else. Finally, Angela digs into conflict and stakes and how to use a variety of ante-uppers to create fresh premises that will tug at a reader's emotions so they feel more connected to your characters and their goals.
