About the WFWAWriting can be a solitary pursuit, but it doesn’t have to be. We create community among writers to deepen connections and craft. The Women’s Fiction Writers Association (WFWA) is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization that connects and equips writers of women’s fiction worldwide. Founded and led entirely by volunteers, WFWA operates through its Board of Directors and staff volunteers, who guide the organization with transparency, accountability, and dedication to our members. Together, they ensure WFWA continues to grow as a supportive, inclusive, and professional space for writers. Our members come from every background and corner of the world, united by a shared passion for stories that explore the emotional journeys at the heart of women’s fiction. We welcome writers of all identities, experiences, and publishing paths. We embrace differences in sex, age, race, ethnicity, and national origin, range of abilities, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, financial means, education, and political perspective—and we believe every voice adds strength to our community.

History of WFWAThe Women's Fiction Writers Association was founded in 2013 by authors Linda Avellar, Marilyn Brant, Laura Drake, Orly Konig, Kerry Lonsdale, and Maggie Marr. They envisioned a professional, enriching, supportive, and diverse international community for writers of women’s fiction. In the decade-plus since, the group has grown to more than 2,000 members. Our members and volunteer leadership have built a thriving community of authors at all stages of their careers, from not-yet-published to multi-published, including agented, traditionally published, hybrid, and indie-published writers. Women’s Fiction Day In 2019, we established Women's Fiction Day to celebrate the authors, stories, readers, bookstores, and fans of the women’s fiction genre. Each year, we try new ways to bring more readers to the genre.
Leadership and GovernanceWFWA is powered by its members. Every program, event, and success is made possible by those who volunteer, share their expertise, and show up for one another. We welcome all members to get involved and help our community continue to thrive.
