Amy Sue Nathan Write and Publish Your Book ScholarshipIn memory of Amy Sue Nathan, former WFWA member and a champion of women’s fiction, WFWA offers a matching scholarship. This scholarship is dedicated to assisting members with the goods and services that help a WFWA member with their publishing journey.
Two scholarships will be awarded each quarter: one specifically for WFWA members with financial need and one for WFWA members who identify as BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and those with a disability who have been underrepresented in the publishing industry. Scholarship recipients must provide receipts or service-provider acknowledgement of payment in order to receive the disbursement of scholarship funds. Goods may include, but are not limited to hardware or software (ie: Vellum, Atticus, ProWriting Aid, etc) needed to help write or publish. Services may include, but are not limited to: editing, sensitivity reading, book coaching, hybrid publishing, website design, or cover design. Application Questions:Are you a member of WFWA? What is the total cost of goods or services to be used (or nearest approximation)? What amount are you requesting? (The amount requested should not exceed one half of the total expense at a maximum scholarship benefit of $500.) Description of goods or services (Goods may include, but are not limited to hardware or software (ie: Vellum, Atticus, ProWriting Aid, etc) needed to help write or publish. Services may include, but are not limited to: editing, sensitivity reading, book coaching, hybrid publishing, website design, or cover design.) Please submit a personal statement (300-word maximum) that describes your goals as a writer, where you are in your writing career, and shares your objective(s) for the goods/services you’ve described. You will copy/paste your answer into the form. Do not include your name or other personally identifying information in your essay as these will be evaluated anonymously. PLEASE NOTE: you are not required to disclose any information that indicates your financial position or your protected, personal identity. Application Windows:May 4-24, 2025 September 7-27, 2025 January 4-24, 2026 Eligibility:Scholarships are only open to current WFWA members in good standing (current member through the retreat dates and/or use of service, no suspensions from any WFWA online or in-person spaces). Members may only be awarded one Amy Sue Nathan Memorial Scholarship within one calendar year. Please note that WFWA Directors, Trustees, Officers, Senior Managers or their family members, and members of the Selection Committee or their family members are not eligible for the scholarship. Application Process:Application form will accept responses during each window. Application entries will be judged anonymously and all applicants will be notified of their status within two weeks after the closing date of the application window.
