2022 WFWA Retreat Scholarships
WFWA is offering two scholarships for each retreat in 2022. Each scholarship will cover the cost of registration and lodging and will reimburse the scholar for up to $500 of travel expenses.
For each retreat, WFWA is offering one scholarship in each of the following two categories:
- Writers with financial need
- Writers from groups that have been historically underrepresented in the publishing industry
APPLICATION PROCESS
- You must be a current member in good standing of WFWA.*
- Indicate the retreat you would like to attend.
- Submit a one-page essay that outlines your goals as a writer, where you are in your writing career, and explains how attending the retreat would be beneficial to you. Do not include your name or other personally identifying information in your essay.
- Financial Need Scholarship Addendum: These scholarships are intended for those who would not be able to participate without them. Along with your essay, submit a paragraph that demonstrates financial need. Do not include your name or other personally identifying information in your essay.
- Diversity Scholarship Addendum: WFWA seeks to foster the creation of diverse stories in the women’s fiction genre. Part of that mission includes supporting writers from historically marginalized backgrounds. Please include a paragraph in your submission explaining how you hope your voice will contribute to the diversity in women’s fiction. Do not include your name or other personally identifying information in your essay.
Entries will be judged anonymously.

*WFWA Directors, Trustees, Officers, Senior Managers or their family members, and members of the Selection Committee or their family members are not eligible for the scholarship.
